Design & Robotics 11°Ed

This year’s project involved drawing inspiration from selected scenes of the film, Perfect Strangers, to create robots that embody various characters from the movie and respond to events occurring on a (potentially simulated) collection of mobile phones. The robots should be designed as distinct heads with unique mechanical structures, forms, and behaviours. These robots can generate sentences or sounds in response to situations triggered by phone events (with
the option for pre-recording). At the start of the course, a series of phone events was provided, and specific characters were allocated to different teams. Our team got the character Rocco, which we will discuss further later in the report.
There is just one restriction on the design of the robot heads, and that’s the height. The robot should have approximately 25 centimetres from the table and up to the eyes of the robot. The teachers encourage us to seek inspiration from diverse sources, not just limited to robots.
